The Cambridge Spy is an experiment in local journalism—one that gives equal weight to public affairs and the arts and culture that shape daily life in our community.

As traditional newspapers disappear from small towns—and even larger cities—we are testing whether a daily, dependable source of local news, civic reporting, and cultural coverage can still thrive.

Founded in 2020, the Cambridge Spy follows the path of two successful hyperlocal news sites—the Chestertown Spy (2009) and the Talbot Spy (2011)—published by the Spy Community Media Fund and supported by the Midshore Community Foundation. Our purpose is straightforward: to serve Cambridge and the greater Dorchester County community with reliable, independent, and nonpartisan reporting.
