Victoria Donovan, a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore in Georgetown, DE, has been honored as one of just three DSPs in Delaware recognized for their outstanding work supporting people with disabilities.

Donovan, from Milford, DE, received the Division of Developmental Disabilities Services (DDDS) Advisory Council Advocacy and Empowerment Award for her exceptional commitment to person-centered support and her dedication to helping people with disabilities develop confidence, make their own choices and use their voices to advocate for themselves.

As a DSP in Easterseals’ day program for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, Donovan supports individuals in developing skills, exploring interests, building relationships and working toward greater independence. She was nominated because of her work creating engaging, individualized learning opportunities that encourage participants to actively participate and make decisions about their own lives.

“We are incredibly proud to see Victoria recognized among the top three Direct Support Professionals in Delaware,” said Pam Reuther, President/CEO of Easterseals. “She sees the abilities and potential in every person she supports and creates opportunities for them to be heard, make choices and grow in confidence. That commitment to seeing and supporting each person as an individual is at the heart of what we strive for at Easterseals.”

Donovan’s supervisor, Brianne Gray, nominated her for the award and highlighted her commitment to empowerment.

“Victoria understands that our role is not to speak for the individuals we support, but to create opportunities for them to discover and confidently use their own voices,” said Gray. “She consistently encourages participants to express their preferences, communicate their needs, make choices, build relationships, and take an active role in decisions affecting their lives.”

The awards for the top three DSPS were presented at the 2026 Delaware Direct Support Professional Summit sponsored by the Delaware Division of Developmental Disabilities.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is leading the way to an inclusive community through its innovative services, which include: children’s therapies, day programs for adults with physical or intellectual disabilities, supported employment, senior services, recreational camping, respite services, and services for caregivers.
